At room temperature it is a white solid. It is also hygroscopic and hydrates when exposed to air. Aluminum potassium sulphate can be dissolved in water and has astringency properties which constricts body tissues and restricts the flow of blood. Uses: Pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food industries because of its astringency properties, in the manufacture of paper, dyes, glue, and explosives, also used in water purification, and to speed up the hardening of concrete and plaster, and is used as a catalyst in various chemical reactions.
