Perchloroethylene

A versatile chlorinated solvent used as an industrial solvent and cooling liquid - also called PCE or PERC, it is a colorless, nonflammable liquid that does not occur naturally. Because of a reduced demand in chlorofluorocarbons, the demand for PERC has fallen though the largest user in the US is the drycleaning industry. Uses: Used in textile mills, chlorofluorocarbons producers, vapor degreasing and metal cleaning operations, in the making of rubber coatings, in aerosol formulations, solvent soaps, printing inks, adhesives, sealants, polishes, lubricants, and silicones.
