
Sodium Hydrosulfite
A white crystalline powder with a weak sulfurous odor. It is stable under most conditions though it will decompose in hot water and acid solutions. Uses: As a reducing agent in aqueous solutions, in some industrial dying processes, a bleach in paper pulp, cotton, wool, and kaolin clay, in water treatment, gas purification, cleaning and stripping, as a sulfonating agent, in physiology experiments, soil chemistry experiments, and as a chelating agent.
