TCE is a chlorinated hydrocarbon that is a clear non-flammable liquid with a sweet smell. It has been historically used as an anesthetic but that use has since been discontinued due to health issues. It has also been banned from use in the food and pharmaceutical industries due to concerns about toxicity. Uses: A solvent for a variety of organic materials, to extract vegetable oils from plant materials, and has been mainly used as a degreaser for metal parts. CAS# (79-01-6)
